Walter’s practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on litigation and patent prosecution.  His practice has included representation of clients in a wide range of patent litigations including business methods, software, pharmaceuticals (Hatch-Waxman Paragraph IV proceedings), medical devices, aviation, and hunting/trapping.   In addition, Walter has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, with an emphasis on the computer and mechanical arts.  Recently, he has concentrated on protecting inventions in the medical industry, including surgical instruments and clinical information systems, as well as the automotive industry.   In addition, Walter also has experience analyzing and evaluating IP portfolios in anticipation of client asset acquisition, negotiating and drafting agreements, and preparing and advising clients regarding invalidity, noninfringement, and clearance opinions.

Prior to joining Michaud-Kinney, Walter practiced IP law as an attorney at the St. Onge law firm in Stamford, CT, and worked as an engineer at Cold Chain Laboratories in Holliston, MA.
